This code uses the Python programing language, which should be standard on many computers but can be downloaded here. Furthermore, this module requires recent versions of matplotlib, which can downloaded and installed here.
There are two versions of the code present. The standard “clumpmodel.py” uses statistical approximations to allow the code to run considerably faster and therefore be more interactive. The other “clumpmodel_slower.py” calculates properties for each individual clump seperately, and therefore can take a very long time to calculate if your cloud contains a large number of clumps.
To run the code, simply open a terminal for Mac/Linux users or a command prompt for Windows. Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the python code and type:
